Over 2,000 delegates celebrated the return of VET Festival in style, enjoying two days of learning, combined with feel-good activities including music, yoga, face painting, a pub quiz and the legendary VETFest ™ Live Party. The event took place at Loseley Park, Guildford on May 20-21.

With the conference tents packed, delegates participated in lively sessions exploring the latest thinking in a wide range of areas of clinical practice, practice development and well-being. Speakers included Dr. Tom Dutton, European specialist in avian medicine; European specialist and RCVS in small animal surgery (soft tissue) Dr Jon Bray; Jack Pye, RVN and BVNA Board Member, and Dr. Nicki Reed, RCVS Specialist in Feline Medicine.

“Triumphant return for the VET festival.”

MWI Animal Health, the event’s lead partner, reported record usage of its “on-the-bike” smoothies and a full house for its Friday night pub quiz. Marketing Manager Zoe Iliffe said, “We were thrilled to have friends old and new at our booth to chat and to see so many of them take on the challenge of using ‘pedal power’ to create their own delicious smoothie.

“Sustainability is one of the founding principles of the VET Festival, so it was also great to see the interest in our latest electric van, which we were demonstrating at the event, and to talk to vets and nurses from their sustainability goals in practice”.

VET Festival is differentiated from other DPC events by its open-air location and its focus on well-being – both in terms of the conferences and the activities offered outside the conference tents. With the number of delegates and exhibitors on the rise since 2019, it is a successful formula. Comments from delegates included:

• ‘A fun and refreshing way to learn, network and take care of yourself in what is currently a strained profession. This is my favorite CPD event every year! »

• ‘One of the most beautiful conferences I have ever attended. That’s why I come from Germany.

• “It makes you proud and inspired by your profession – a real sense of community.”

Brian Faulkner, co-founder of Colorful CPD, who spoke at the event, said: “The VET Festival was a fantastic event. It was nice to see so many people reunited in a relaxed setting, which combines education in a relaxed setting, with the ever-expanding exposure and entertainment. The conferences were well attended and we made many new contacts. The Friday night band was amazing!

Nicole Cooper, General Manager of the VET Festival, added: “The atmosphere this year was absolutely brilliant with the glorious sunshine on Saturday as the icing on the cake. It was a privilege to see so many dedicated veterinary professionals spending time together in the fresh air, learning, laughing, reconnecting, relaxing and generally having fun.

“We could not organize the VET Festival without the generous support of our partners. We especially thank our lead partner MWIAH for their deep commitment to the event, even during the uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We also thank our new partners, ManyPets, Medivet and Vetoquinol-Felpreva for supporting us in this adventure.”
