JOIN THE HOPLITES AT THE ΜELBOURNE MUSEUM
To celebrate the National Archaeological Museum of Greece’s Open Horizons exhibition at the Melbourne Museum, the Melbourne Greek Community is hosting a program of music, dance, food and hoplites in full armor on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May. The exhibition ‘Open Horizons – Ancient Greek Journeys and Connections’ presents 44 ancient works dating from the early Bronze Age to the Roman period representing periods of economic and cultural exchanges between Greece and its neighbors from the National Archaeological Museum of ‘Athens. Accompanying this excellent exhibition, a music and dance program will feature Melbourne’s ‘Anagenisi’ and dancers from Melbourne’s Greek Community Dance Ensemble; Food trucks in the square via Loukoumades de St Gerry and Greek Gyro restoration as well as workshops and items from the La Trobe University collection to view.

COURAGE TO CARE TURNS 30: EDUCATION PANEL LUNCH EVENT
As part of the 30th anniversary celebrations, Courage to Care will host a special roundtable Talking Upstander Action: A Discussion on Discrimination which will be moderated by writer and social commentator Dr Susan Carland with expert panelists including Dr Shakira Hussein, of the Department of Education and Training. FECCA CONFERENCE 2022
After a long hiatus, the FECCA 2022 conference will reconvene in person next year in Melbourne to hold a conference where multicultural communities, policy makers, service providers, academics and many more can delve into several topics of news. GREEK LOVE AT THE HELLENIC MUSEUM
After several delays due to COVID-19, the Hellenic Museum will hold its unique evening on Greek Love: Desire, Sexuality and Identity in the Classical World next month. It offers the opportunity to discover “queer coded stories, mythologies of antiquity”. The Hellenic Museum affirms that Greek Love will inform, entertain and challenge how we as modern audiences interpret the past and how it relates to contemporary LGBTQIA+ representations (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual) .

GACL KIDS HOLIDAY PROGRAM
The Greek-Australian Cultural League has released the dates for the second term school holidays for its arts and culture program GACL KIDS for children aged 7-11 from June 29 to July 1 at Gasworks Art Studio in Albert Park. On Wednesday, June 29, it will be Paintings of feathers and chains: Icarus and his wings. On Thursday, June 30, the session will be devoted to Painting without a brush: flowers in Greek mythology. The final session, Story Telling Through Art: Loss and Resilience, on Friday July 1, is suitable for children aged 9-11

GCM SUMMER CULTURAL CAMP IN NORTHERN GREECE
Melbourne’s Greek community and the Greek Foreign Ministry are bringing back their summer camp after a long hiatus. The new experience, titled Cultural Camp, is for adults 18 and older (you must be 18 by July 8) and will take place in northern Greece. The camp will be based in Thessaloniki with visits to Vergina, Nimphaio, Dion Olympus and Kastoria from July 9 to 20 (20 days inclusive). Fees include accommodation, meals, internal transfers, museum and site admissions.

For the first time in 20 years, Sydney’s Greek youth are coming together again for a great night out at Canada Bay Club! Organized and supported by the Sydney Greek Festival, SUGS, MUGA, UTS Hellenic, Panipiritoki Enosis NSW, Kytherian Youth Association, Pan-Macedonian Association, Pontoxineteas Sydney, UTS Hellenic Society and the Cretan Youth Association of Sydney and NSW. The event will feature DJ Paro and other entertainment and is strictly open to people aged 18-30.

The Greek Orthodox Community of NSW presents a concert in honor of Mikis Theodorakis entitled: MIKIS THEODORAKIS 1925-2021 THE BALLAD OF THE DEAD BROTHER AND HIS GREATEST HITS, at the Queensland Performance Arts Center on Friday 27th May 2022.
